"We are all meeting down at Sonic, you can come along if you like." If people take the time to invite me to something, I seriously consider taking them up. When we arrived in Pahrump we re-connected with our triker friends Vince and Cherl, so off we went to Sonic for the weekly triker meet-up. You can see all the photos here.
Things are not what they seem; that would be one of the real lessons from the road for me. You see trikes going down the road what do you think? I guess I never really thought about it much but I guess I thought they were, you know, bikers. Let's fight, let's swear, let's get a tattoo! While all those things are available to you as a triker, alas, once again I find people are people. What makes them good is not their hobbies but their hearts. Grandpa and grandma ride trikes too.
On the road I have found people who don't have much to be the most generous. Simple people, working people, people who have jobs. They open their lives up to you, they accept you and they share openly, take you into their homes and their lives.
Vince and Cheryl invited us over to see how they build the trikes. Then they invited us to meet up with their friends at Sonic that evening. They told us they would take us for a ride but they were going to Mexico in the morning. Why were they going to Mexico? Going to the dentist. Hey, I need to go to the dentist.
Wanna go to Mexico?
